Merry Christmas!
There are at least two varieties of Norfolk Island pine. One develops a curved trunk with an irregularly structured, although still conical canopy. The other develops a very straight trunk and weirdly symmetrical branch structure.
My sister is here from Oklahoma. She and I were looking at all the different forms of aurucaria, and discovered that monkey puzzle tree and Norfolk Island Pine are the same genus. Who knew? Dirr didn’t specify that there were several forms–or if he did, we breezed on by, because we were looking for new small trees for her courtyard garden out there and obviously they aren’t suitable.
