Wordless Wednesday

It might be a little hard to see what this photo is. It’s a cylindrical snake plant with what I think is a flower stalk (the white thing) coming up in it.

This has never bloomed for me. And I am amazed that it might be doing so in February?!

Here’s the whole plant (obviously with other snake plants near it). You can just barely see the little white stalk in this photo.

It’s going to be interesting.

I had one bloom for me quite a few years back. I had a room in the office building I was worked
in that had a sun room. The lighting was perfect. But I believe the trick to it is that you have to have a male and female within the plant. I did have one that bloomed and one that didn’t.
The bloom lasted quite awhile if I remember correctly. It was just fun to see. Once it bloomed, it bloomed every year. I had the plant for a long time. I actually left it in my office when I retired.
It still may be there. I do have a piece of it at home now, but It has never bloomed yet.

Interesting thought about house plants needing male and female parts to bloom. I will have to research that. I had thought that once they filled up the pot, that’s when they were happy enough to bloom–but perhaps not.

I too have left various plants behind as I have changed or left jobs. It’s an interesting concept to take a piece with you. I haven’t done that. Maybe I should try it sometime.

Thanks for sharing both those ideas!
