Wordless Wednesday–What’s Killing The Trees?

Dead Spruce

A week or two ago I noticed this totally dead spruce on my neighbor’s property.

I’d been watching the slow decline of these Japanese Lilac trees all summer.

About the same time as I noticed the dead spruce, I noticed the decline of these river birches.

On my own property, thankfully, the decline has been less dramatic. I have a few dead branches here and there–but I do not have a much sun as my neighbors.

The decline on this magnolia has been more dramatic. It is in full sun and this is only the latest casualty.

For lots of explanations of what’s happening, you’ll have to see Friday’s very wordy post.
