Wordless Wednesday

tree peony

When I saw this tree peony in full bloom–finally–last week on a day when we were scheduled to hit 80 degrees I knew I’d better get some photos. By evening, the blooms would be spent.

Sure enough, when I got home that evening, the plant looked like it had been fried. This is a lovely plant, but way too short-lived for me!

But so beautiful! Mine – much less impressive because still young – are lasting a bit longer this year because just as they began blooming yesterday the weather got cool and drizzly.

Very true–and maybe that’s part of the beauty–that it is so fleeting. I’m just glad I didn’t blink!
