Wordless Wednesday–Terrariums

terrarium I made this terrarium at a workshop given by Elizabeth Park in Hartford at the end of January.  Tovah Martin, who wrote the original Terrarium book (shown below) gave the workshop.  She was so enthusiastic and energetic and a fabulous speaker.  I would willingly take her workshop again and most likely will when she gives it at my old stomping grounds, Gledhill Nursery in West Hartford in April.

Short of that, if that workshop isn’t convenient to my readers worldwide, I can enthusiastically recommend her book, which not only has step by step instructions, but has lots of fabulous photos for inspiration.  If any of you are old enough to remember the terrarium craze of the 1970s, these are not those terrariums!

Nice. (I do remember those seventies terrariums.)

Sadly, I to do too. Remember the colored sand? Ah well. We’ve all evolved. But I must tell you, I chose the “baby’s tears” for this terrarium precisely because I had such fond memories of it from the ’70s. I guess some things never change after all!
