Wordless Wednesday–Let Them Eat Veggies

I’s been a difficult year for the vegetables in my yard.  It hasn’t really been hot enough (I know–I’m sorry!  With the rest of the country sweltering through record heat, I don’t mean to complain.  But you do need a certain level of heat to grow good veggies!)

And along with the rest of the country, it hasn’t been wet enough either, although we can provide some supplemental water.

It’s still been buggy, however.

And it’s been humid enough that blight is starting to form on the tomato leaves.

Even though some of the tomatoes are scarcely taller than the bush beans!

There have been a few successes though.  This tomato is ‘Indigo Rose.’  It’s supposed to be purple and it looks as if it will be.  It’s still mighty tiny though–it’s not supposed to be a cherry!

At least the weeds are good for something!

Nice job! It has been a difficult year for gardeners.

Thank you–and thanks for reading. I think all gardeners have to be optimists at heart or we surely would never keep doing this year after year through heat, drought, hail, etc. But of course, no matter how bad it is, we always dream and plan for next year! Karla
