Wordless Wednesday Extra

See all those brown leafy masses in this tree? They’re not broken leaf masses from the October storm; they’re squirrels’ nests.  If you remember back to the end of November when I made my “winter weather prediction” based on the squirrels and where they were building their nests in the trees, I said that this year the squirrels seemed conflicted about whether or not it would be a bad winter.  Remember, the higher up in the tree, the worse the winter will be.

One of our local meteorologists says that the current long-range forecast (by my reckoning, so far this young season there have been 4!) is “EC” which stands for equal chances of a below average or above average winter in terms of temperatures and precipitation.

Looks like the squirrels agree with him!
